The character I picked is Cory Matthews from the TV show Boy Meets World.
Cory is a middle-class student who is interested in baseball and girls, specifically Topanga. Cory likes to goof off in class and can be a distraction to others. He often distracts his fellow classmates with humor. He is a smart boy that doesn't always apply himself to the material. Cory's parents are involved in his education and encourage him to do well in school. Cory develops good morals throughout the show.
If Cory were in my class I would find a way to get him more interested in his school work. I would assign him projects that are about sports so that he would be more interested in the material. I would also introduce him to sports magazines and biographies by baseball players to get him interested in reading. I would try to get Cory interested in sports statistics and research. Maybe this would include using technology which would probably amaze him because there is not much technology in the classroom he is in, in 1993. He could use the computer to research athletes and report statistics about them. Maybe I would have him present this project to the class. I think some interactive learning games would benefit Cory's engagement.
In the first few seasons I would say that Cory is not yet ready for college. Which is understandable because he is in middle school and beginning high school in those seasons. However in the last 2 seasons Cory does attend college at Pennbrook University.
